Office Technology
Our Office Technology course is designed to be a short term program for students desiring the skills and abilities to become more competitive and ready to meet the needs of business and industry. Programs included in the course are Word, Excel, Proofreading and Editing, Record Information Management, Bookkeeping, and QuickBooks. These programs are also available separately.
CDL
In our commercial driver's license training (CDL), you will receive classroom instruction to prepare for knowledge tests. You will also receive driving practice to prepare for the driving test. Classroom instruction includes 12 hours of preparation. Upon passing the knowledge tests students will schedule individual driving instruction and practice with the instructor. You must be 18 or older, posses a driver's license and a high school diploma or GED equivalent to take this course.
Workplace Spanish
This is a class to meet the needs of a diversifying workforce. Workplace Spanish is a job specific, Spanish training that uses a simple format. Since the goal is communication, not language proficiency, the focus is on learning common words and phrases---not the heavy subjects like verb conjugation or gender pronouns.
Blueprint/CNC
Introduction to blueprint reading and cnc operation in cooperation with Lake Area Technicial Institute.
Welding
We currently have wire feed welding machines. Our instructors are people that work in the welding industry. We scheduled classes as we get enough participants. Classes are generally held in the evenings to accommodate our instructors.
CNA
Developing health care consortium in northeastern South Dakota. Offering classroom and clinical training for Certified Nursing Assistant.
Building Trades Technology (Coming Soon)
Developing a 6 month Building Trades Technology course in conjunction with Lake Area Technicial Institute. Building a 3 bedroom home on site at NEWTEC.
Minimum age for the class is 18. Admission is open to high school graduates or GED equivalent.
We are developing training opportunities in the areas of: Health Field occupations, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Customer Service, Safety Training, Pre-Employment Training, and Job Retention.
Certified Composites Technician
This is a comphrensive 20 hour certification course with materials accredited through the American Composites Manufacturers Association. Training covers 10 modules that deal with both Basic Composites and Vacuum Infusion. The CCT program is designed to elevate standards in the industry by enhancing individual performance and recognizing those who demonstrate critical knowledge of the composites industry. The CCT designation is a noted symbol of education among employers, employees, and industry professionals.
Composites is two or more dissimilar materials which when combined are stronger than the individual materials. Composites can be natural or synthetic (man made).
The focus of the CCT training is the process used in the wind turbine blade industry. Training is provided by a CCT Certified Instructor at NEW TEC. Training provides both classroom and hands on demonstrations of the properties of composite materials.
